An eSIM is a digital SIM built into your phone, so there’s no physical card to wait for in the post. Not every phone supports eSIM, so it’s worth checking before you order.
The quickest check (works on most phones)
- Open your phone’s dialler, as if you’re making a call.
- Dial *#06#
- If you see a number labelled EID, your phone supports eSIM.
If there’s no EID listed, your phone most likely doesn’t support eSIM. Choose a physical SIM instead.
Check in your phone’s settings
iPhone
iPhone XS, XR and newer models support eSIM.
- Go to Settings > Mobile (this may show as Mobile Service or Mobile Data).
- If you see Add eSIM, your iPhone supports eSIM.
Samsung Galaxy
- Go to Settings > Connections > SIM manager.
- If you see Add eSIM, your phone supports eSIM.
Google Pixel
- Go to Settings > Network & internet > SIMs.
- If you see an option to add or download an eSIM, your phone supports eSIM.
Other Android phones
Look in Settings under Connections, Network or SIM for an option to add an eSIM. If you can’t find one, check your phone manufacturer’s website or use the *#06# check above.
Things to keep in mind
- Your phone needs to be unlocked. If your phone is locked to another provider, it won’t work with a Goodtel eSIM until it’s unlocked. Your current provider can tell you how to unlock it.
- Phones bought overseas may be different. Some models sold in other countries don’t include eSIM, even if the Australian version does.
- Not sure? Choose a physical SIM. It works in any unlocked phone with a SIM tray.
Activating your Goodtel eSIM
Once you’ve placed your order, log in to the Goodtel customer portal to activate your eSIM.
